Alta Marie Larson, 84 of Benson, Minnesota,  died Monday, July 25, 2022, at Scandi Haven Village Senior Care Center in Benson. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 1, 2022, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Benson City Cemetery.
Alta Marie Larson was born November 1, 1937, in Starbuck, Minnesota, to Roy C. and Josephine (Zastrow) Ronning. She was baptized by Rev. E.O. Barsness and confirmed by Rev. Gilbert Oppen at Barsness Lutheran Church, in rural Glenwood. 
She graduated from Glenwood High School in 1955. She taught Sunday School, Bible School, sang in the church choir and served as secretary on the church council at Barsness Lutheran Church. She worked at Sears Roebuck and Glenwood State Bank in Glenwood. She also served as treasurer of a campaign for State Representative from Pope County and also performed in a community theater group. 
In 1977, she was married to Ronald L. Larson of Benson. To this union was born a daughter, Heather. She also had three stepchildren:  Jacqulynn, Jerome and Daniel Larson.
After marriage and moving to Benson, she worked at Ben Franklin and Agvise Laboratories. She was a member of Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir for 30+ years, was an officer in ORW women’s group, volunteered helping with Sunday bulletins every week and monthly newsletter, and helped with Meals on Wheels. She also served several years as an election judge for the city of Benson, was a member and secretary of the Benson Music Booster Club and Prom after Bash at Benson High school, and also a member of the Benson Golf Club.
Her interests were golfing, traveling, gardening, sewing, cooking (especially pies), craft shows, shopping, and going to lunch with lady friends and classmates.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald; daughter, Heather Larson of Frewsburg, NY; a stepdaughter, Jacqulynn Larson of Alexandria; stepsons: Jerome (Lorene) Larson of Manassas, VA and Daniel (Laura) Larson of Elizabeth, CO; step-grandchildren: Zachary Larson of Panama City, FL, Brynn Larson (James Bader) of Auburn, WA and Brooke Larson of Leadville, CO. She is also survived by a brother: Wayne (Judy) Ronning of Watertown, SD; sister, Rhoda (Dale) Erickson of Monticello; nieces, Kim Ronning (Patrick Eisenhauer) of Minneapolis and Tracy (Ryan) Diedrich of Fargo, ND; a nephew, Troy Ronning of Minneapolis; also four great-nephews and a great niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Josephine Ronning; sister-in-law, Myrtle Holzheimer; and brother-in-law, Edgar Holzheimer.
