Braves play tough against BOLD

Will Enderson is fouled while driving upcourt during the Braves’ 77-62 loss to BOLD, Thursday night in Benson. The Braves stayed with the Warriors for most of the first half before BOLD took charge in the second half.

The Benson boys basketball team stayed with BOLD for over half of the game before the Warriors picked things up in the second half and went on to a 77-62 victory, Thursday night in Benson.

BOLD, playing without one of its top players, stayed perfect for the season with the 15-point win.

The Braves were tied at 21-21 and were still within a few points until BOLD went on a late run to go into halftime with a 34-28 lead.  The Warriors then outscored the Braves 43-34 in a high-scoring second half.

Benson fell to 2-3 in the WCC and 2-6 overall with the loss heading into this week’s home games with Minnewaska Area, Tuesday (yesterday) and against Morris Area-CA, Friday...

Four-goal third period lifts MBA boys to 5-3 victory over Worthington

The puck was originally stopped short of the goalline by MBA goalie Brady Backman, but despite the help of Mike Halvorson (19) and Tyler Buss (14), the puck eventually rolled across the line for the first Redwood goal.

The MBA boys hockey team rallied from a 3-2 deficit to beat Worthington, Saturday in Benson, 5-3.  The win snapped a three-game losing skid for the Storm, who also lost at home to Mayville-Portland, during its only game of the Benson Holiday Tournament (due to weather), Dec. 29 (6-0), and also lost a home game with Redwood Valley, Tuesday (6-0).

During the win over Worthington, MBA trailed 3-2 with 12:15 left in the game before Will Breuer scored two goals in a row and Jack Riley added another with 1:53 left to give the Storm a much-needed win.

The Storm are 4-6 overall just short of the halfway point in the season.  MBA has three games scheduled this week beginning with a game at Big Lake, Monday, and continuing with a game at Breckenridge-Wahpeton, Thursday (tomorrow) and at Fairmont, Saturday...
