Post Office still serving community in time of need

The United States Post Office continues to serve residents of the area through the COVID-19 shutdown.  The U.S. Post Office lobby in Benson is open like normal, although patrons are asked to keep their social distance and stagger their turns at the lobby desk.

In addition, the U.S. Postal Service is doing its part to keep contact among employees, and between customers and employees to a minimum.

“We’ve been reinforcing workplace behaviors to ensure that contact among our employees and with our customers reflects the best guidance regarding healthy interactions, social distancing, and risk minimization,” said Nicole Hill, Customer Relations Coordinator, St. Paul Postmasters Office.  “We have implemented measures at retail facilities and mail processing facilities to ensure appropriate social distancing.”

$1.5 million levy passes with strong support

District 777 residents cast absentee ballots at the Swift County Courthouse Saturday.

With 78 percent of those casting ballots voting yes, either in person or absentee, the District 777 $1.5 million levy for the construction of a new sports facility easily passed Tuesday. The unofficial vote was 671 for and 191 against. In all, 862 votes were cast.

Voting this spring had a heavy emphasis on casting absentee ballots in light of the deadly and highly contagious coronavirus sweeping the country. The goal was to keep people from having to mingle with others while casting ballots.

SEOC UPDATE #17: STATE OFFICIALS CONTINUE FOCUSING ON PREPARING HOSPITALS FOR PREDICTED SURGE OF COVID-19 PATIENTS

Increasing surge capacity at Minnesota hospitals, accumulating more personal protective equipment (PPE) and establishing alternate care sites remain the top priorities for officials working in the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC).

Gary K. Vergin

Gary K. Vergin, 65, of Willmar, died Friday, April 3rd as the result of a semi accident due to icy roads on highway 12 just east of Willmar.  His memorial service will be held at a later date at Word of Faith Family Church in Willmar.  Funeral arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.  www.hafh.org.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, That the Board of Review-of the Township of Clontarf in Swift County, Minnesota, will meet at the Office of the Clerk in said Fire Hall at 2:30 o’clock, P.M. on Thursday the 23rd day of April, 2020 for the purpose of reviewing and correcting the assessment of said Township for the year of 2020. All persons considering themselves aggrieved by said assessment, or who wish to complain that the property of another is assessed too low, are hereby notified to appear at said meeting, and show cause of having such assessment corrected.
  No complaint that another person is assessed too low will be acted upon until the person so assessed, or his agent, shall have been notified of such complaint.
