The Benson Legion baseball team closed out the season with a win and loss last week. The Benson Legion finished the season with a 6-2 overall record after winning at Hancock last Monday night, 2-1, and losing to Marshall at home, Thursday, 10-2.
Cole Hedman and Matt Laumeyer combined for the win on the mound during the victory at Hancock. It was the sixth-straight win for the team after opening up the season with a loss to Willmar.
Hedman pitched three innings, giving up no runs while striking out three, and Laumayer pitched five innings, allowing one unearned run with six strikeouts.
Offensively, Matt Tolifson was 3-for-45, Kellen Schmidt was 1-for-2 and was also hit-by-a-pitch, Sam Grussing was 1-for-2 with a walk, and Patrick Minchow was 1-for-2 with a walk and three stolen bases...
