MINUTES OF THE REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING
INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 777, Benson, Minnesota
Monday, March 19, 2018 – 5:30 p.m. – Benson High School Media Center

The meeting was called to order at 5:32 p.m. by Chair Chad Payne.  Members present:  Jodi DeJong-Hughes, Tammy Gunlogson, Mary Langan, Bill McGeary, Chad Payne, Gary Williams.
Members absent:  Paul Carruth.  Also present:  Dennis Laumeyer, Brad Johnson, Dave Benson, Mike Knutson, Pam Anderson, Mike Thompson, Jon Ahrndt, Adam Foslien, Kristy Johnson.

Motion by B. McGeary, second by G. Williams to approve the Agenda. Motion carried (6-0).
Consent Agenda was approved.
Progress Reports were presented by the administration.
Supt. Laumeyer highlighted all of the school security measures and support services in the District and discussion was held.
A brief discussion was held on the book Passion: 8 Steps to Reignite Yours, steps 4-6.
The 2018-2019 school calendar was approved.
2018-2019 Grades 9-12 Registration Guide was approved.
The Five Pillars is a plan for addressing and improving the culture of the activities program and will lay out the minimum standard/requirements for the five essential stakeholders and accountability for each pillar. The plan proposal will address and improve the culture for the long term. Coaches/Advisors and parents will help to identify requirements under each pillar. Once complete, the board will review and take action.
2018-2018 SWWC Service Cooperative Contract in the amount of $187,102.53 was approved.
2018-2019 SWWC Service Cooperative Heartland Girls Ranch Contract in the amount of $326,516.35 was approved.
The Resolution to Support State Funding SWSC Facilities for the legislature to provide funds to the SWWC for facility improvements was approved.
Donations:
$1,000 from Marlene Skold for the Gale Skold Memorial Scholarship
