Benson baseball ends first week 0-4

The Benson baseball team will have to wait until the second week of action to earn its first victory after losing its first four games last week.

The Braves opened up the season with a 6-3 loss to BOLD last Monday night and also fell to Minnewaska Area last Tuesday night, 5-4.  The week came to an end with a doubleheader loss to Sauk Centre, 11-1 and 11-0.

Benson has three more dates scheduled this week, beginning with a game at KMS, Monday, and continuing with a home game with Morris Area, Tuesday (yesterday) and ending with a night game at home with Hancock, Friday.

•  This year’s Benson baseball varsity roster includes seniors Aaron Zosel, Brandon Osterbauer, Dan Lenarz, Matt Connolly, Sam Lundebrek, and Kaden Schmidt; juniors Alex Wrobleski, Devon Liles, Hunter Gonnerman, Hunter Mondor, Jared Knutson, Jared Kurkosky, Matt Lenarz, Matt Ebnet, Matt Goossen, and Max Benson; and sophomores Matthew Tolifson and Will Enderson.

•  Sauk Centre and BOLD tied for last year’s WCC title with 12-2 records, while Melrose was third at 9-5, Minnewaska Area and ACGC were tied for fourth with 7-7 records, Morris Area was sixth (4-10), Montevideo was seventh (3-11), and Benson was eighth....
