Morris and Minnewaska win titles at opening track meet in Benson

They’re off and running!

The Benson-KMS track and field teams were finally able to get their seasons underway at the Benson Invitational last Tuesday on the Brock Field oval.

Morris Area dominated the boys meet, winning by 50 points over runner-up Montevideo, while the Minnewaska Area girls also put on a dominating performance, winning by 77.5 points over the runner-up Tigers.

Benson-KMS was fourth in the boys meet, with Brady Ascheman winning the 3200 meter run for his team’s only points, and the Benson-KMS girls were fifth in the 8-team field with Mariah Ahrndt winning the Fighting Braves’ only title in the triple jump.

Benson-KMS was set to host another home invitational, Tuesday (yesterday) before competing at the Little Crow Invitational at NLS High School, Thursday (tomorrow), and some team members will also compete at Sioux Falls, Friday and Saturday....
