Braves top Tigers for second win, but lose section opener

The Benson baseball team had its season  end in the first round of the Section 3AA Baseball Tourney, Saturday, with a 10-0 loss at Paynesville.  The Braves were seeded eighth in their half of the section, while the Bulldogs came in as the top seed.

It was only the third time this season Benson has been shutout.  The Braves ended the season with a 2-16 overall record, which included a 2-12 mark within the WCC.

Earlier in the week, Benson lost its final home game of the season, Monday against NLS, 11-5, before ending the season with an 11-9 victory at Morris Area for the team’s second win of the season.  Benson’s other win was a 7-6 walkoff win at Montevideo.  Both victories came in the final four games of the regular-season.  

Graduating from this year’s Benson baseball team are Aaron Zosel, Brandon Osterbauer, Dan Lenarz, Matt Connolly, Sam Lundebrek, and Kaden Schmidt....
