MINUTES OF THE REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING/WORK SESSION
INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 777,
Benson, Minnesota
Monday, March 4, 2019 – 5:30 p.m.
Benson High School Media Center

Meeting was called to order at 5:33 p.m. by Chair Brian Samuelson.  
Members present:  Jim Berens (arrived at 5:34), Paul Carruth, Bill McGeary, Eric Peterson, Brian Samuelson, Gary Williams.  Member absent:  Mary Langan
Also present:  Dennis Laumeyer, Dave Benson, Brad Johnson, Pam Anderson, Ryan Breitbach, Reed Anfinson, Don Brehmer, Ann Hippe, Mary Alice Hoffman, Shelly Vergin, Jon Ahrndt, Ruth Ahrndt, Pat Lee, Steve Ricard
Agenda was approved.
The board approved to rescind the February 19, 2019 motion denying Teacher Early Retirement Incentive Program Payment for Shelly Mikkelson, Jon Ahrndt, Ruth Ahrndt and Don Brehmer.
Early Retirement Incentive Program:  The board approved to offer $10,000 Teacher Early Retirement Incentive Progam through state statute 122A.48 (Teacher Early Retirement Program) to Shelly Mikkelson, Jon Ahrndt, Ruth Ahrndt and Don Brehmer. To receive early retirement payment, the teachers must submit their letter of retirement effective at the end of the 2018-2019 school year to the superintendent by 3:30 p.m. on March 7, 2019.
Construction Oversight Committee:  The meeting moved to the District Office for a conference call with the architect.  The committee previously met with Paul Youngquist and Ryan Breitbach to review the construction plans to determine if there are ways to reduce the costs of the project. A full list of items the committee considered and a list of savings the committee recommends were shared and discussed.  The board accepted the construction plan changes as presented.
