Hoium earns trip to state tournament


Eric Hoium became the eighth BHS boy to earn a berth in the State Boys Tennis singles tournament by winning the Section 6A Individual Tournament, Thursday at Sartell.
Hoium was seeded first and earned a first-round bye before winning three-straight matches, including his final two in three sets.
Hoium was the top seed and only senior on this year’s Benson-KMS boys tennis team. He will go into the State Tourney with a 17-2 record this season and 82 carer victories.
Benson-KMS’ other section competitors, Hunter LeClair in singles, and Peyton LeClair-Taylor Duncan and Kyle Reese-Matthew Thompson, were all eliminated in the first two rounds.
The Benson-KMS team closed out the 2019 season with a 6-8 overall record after losing to NLS in the opening round of the Section 6A Team Tournament by a 4-3 score...
