Roger A. Norby, 84, of Benson, Minnesota, died Saturday morning, June 8, 2019 at the Brookside Assisted Living in Montevideo, Minnesota.

Visitation was held from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 14, 2019 at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church, Benson.

Interment was in Swenoda Cemetery, Swenoda Township.

Roger Allen Norby was born August 8, 1934 to Herbert and Julia (Holstad) Norby.

He was called from this life June 8, 2019, at Brookside Assisted Living in Montevideo. He attained the age of 84 years and 10 months.

Roger attended Swenoda Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed.

He attended grade school at District #49 and graduated from Benson High School in 1952.

December 17, 1955, Roger was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Dvergsten at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Watson.

They were blessed with two daughters, Debra and Kimberly. Together they were able to share in over 51 years of marriage. 

Roger and Shirley began farming in 1956 and in 1961 they bought their farm in Swenoda Township.

They farmed for over 40 years together and were able to retire in 1996.

Roger was a member of Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church where he was active in many church functions.

He enjoyed playing cards, watching the Twins, gardening, driving around to check on the crops and visiting with everyone he met.

Roger is survived by his two daughters; Deb (Mark) Minnick of Cosmos and Kim (Greg) Kobbermann of Benson; grandchildren Sara, Tracy, and Michael Kobbermann, and Tyler Minnick (special friend Brittany); in-laws, nieces and nephews, and several other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his wife Shirley in 2007, his parents Herbert and Julia, and brothers LuVerne and Gordon. Blessed be his memory.

Arrangements were with Zniewski Funeral Home.
