Alissa Maurer, a ninth-grader from Benson, competed at the State Class A Girls Golf Tournament last Tuesday and Wednesday at Pebble Creek Golf Club near Becker.

Maurer shot a 91 on the first day and added a 96 on the second day of competition to place 24th with a 187 total among the Class A golfers.

She started her first day with a bogey on the 10th hole and triple bogey on the 11th, but rallied with three pars to make the turn with a 13-over 49.  On her second nine, which was actually the front nine of the Pebble Creek course, she had four pars over her first six holes and was just three over through seven before going four-over on the par-4, 320-yard 8th hole. 

She came right back with her only birdie of the day on the final hole for a 42 on the second nine and a 91 total for her first 18 holes.

During her second round of 18 holes last Wednesday, Maurer shot a 96 total to give her a 187 total for the tournament.

BOLD won this year’s Class A team title with a total of 704 to edge runner-up Park Christian by one stroke and third-place Lac qui Parle by 16.  BOLD had the low score for the first day with a 345, but Park Christian had a 342 on the second day for the low score.  BOLD had its top four golfers place 6th, 7th, 10th, and 16th.
