Marysland Township farmer Mark Hughes has become a fixture at Swift County Board of Commissioners meetings recently taking advantage of the citizen’s comments period to ask a broad range of questions.

At the board’s Aug. 20 meeting, Hughes made comments on the Swift County Fair, the Ag2School credit providing ag land tax relief on school levies, and about an upcoming Community Perspective Committee meeting.

It was his question on the committee meeting and his right to attend it that had the county board struggling to give a straight answer.

The board of commissioners created the Community Perspective Committee earlier this year to study county building needs in general and the proposed construction of a $17.5 million Swift County Justice Center...
