Late rally comes up short as Benson fall 28-20 to Morris in opener

The Benson football team opened up the season with a 28-20 loss at home to Morris Area-CA, Friday night on Brock Field.  The Braves battled back from a 21-6 deficit to pull to within 28-20 late in the game, but the Tigers were able to hold off the late charge by Benson to earn the victory in the battle between former WCC foes.

It was the first game for new head coach Adam Foslien, who took over for Scott Gonnerman as the new coach of the Braves.

“What an atmosphere at Brock Field, it was unbelievable, and the crowd was great; you could just feel the energy,” coach Adam Foslien said.  “I was so proud of our players and fans, and I hope every home game is like that.”

Morris Area scored one touchdown in each quarter, while the Braves scored 14 of their points in the final quarter, the final one coming with 3:41 left in the game...
