The KMS football team survived a scare from Long Prairie-Grey Eagle during a Mid State Blue football game in Murdock, Friday night.  The Saints’ defense came up big all night and helped KMS leave its home field with a 14-7 victory.

The win kept the Saints in a second-place tie with Browerville-EV in the Mid State Blue division, just one game behind Upsala-Swanville Area (4-0) and one game ahead of LPGE, Parkers Prairie, and Royalton (all 2-2).

Brandon Kallstrom and Masyn Olson scored rushing touchdowns for the Saints, while Christian Diederich had seven sacks for KMS, including one for a safety.

The Saints’ defense has given up just 42 points total in its last four games, but the KMS offense has scored just 48 points all season, including 14 points in each of its three wins this season.

“Our defense has been great and we look to continue that,” coach Jason Fernholz said.  “Offensively, we have played some hard-nosed teams and we have shown the ability to be successful, although we’ve also been somewhat inconsistent.  We will be challenging our guys this week after a disappointing performance against LPGE...”
