MBA Lady Storm to open up season this weekend in Benson

The MBA Lady Storm is set to get the winter sports season underway with a pair of games at the Benson Civic Center Friday and Saturday.  The Lady Storm, coming off a 3-20 season from a year ago, are set to host Luverne, Friday and St. Peter, Saturday.

The Lady Storm also are set to host River Lakes in Morris, Tuesday, Nov. 12 before going on the road for their first road game, Saturday, Nov. 23 at Fairmont.

Back to lead the Lady Storm again this year is head coach Abby Daly.

The Lady Storm had their season end last year with a loss to top-seeded Alexandria in the Section 6A opener.

Leading the team in scoring last year were current sophomore Taryn Picht and  current ninth-grader Kortney Sanasack with 11 points each.  Picht had a team-high 11 goals and Sanasack had a team-high six assists.

The top four scorers were 7th, 8th, or 9th graders last year for the Lady Storm, who picked up wins over Park Rapids twice (3-2 and 5-4 in overtime) and Fairmont (5-3).

The only senior lost to graduation from last year’s team was Danielle Reuss.

Back as the starting goalie for MBA is junior Leah Thompson, who was 3-20 last year with a 80 percent save percentage...
