Ricard and Berreau go over 1,000 points as Benson girls stay hot

The Benson girls basketball team is one of the hottest teams in the area, having gone 8-2 in its last 10 games, including five of its last six. The Braves beat Paynesville (72-52), ACGC (58-40), and Minnewaska area (50--43) last week, giving Benson a 12-9 overall record and 6-7 conference mark heading into its final five games of the season.

During last week’s action, Clarie Ricard became the fifth girl at BHS to reach 1,000 career points during the win over Paynesville. 

Teammate Kaitlyn Berreau joined her Monday night during a home win over YME.  Berreau needed six points for 1,000 and made a driving layup with about six minutes left in the first half to join Ricard on the 1,000-point club.

Other players with 1,000 career points are Emma Peterson (1,589), Abby Fragodt (1,498), Emily Jensen (1,134), and Missy Giese (1,001).

Benson was set to host YME, Monday, before playing at Osakis, Tuesday (yesterday) and at MACCRAY, Thursday (tomorrow), and closing out the week with a game at Melrose, Friday...
