Ron Carlson, 77, of Benson, passed away Monday, June 22 at the Gabriel House in Murdock.

A funeral service was held Saturday, June 27, 2020 at First Evangelical Free Church, Benson, Minnesota.

Officiant was Rev. Bjorn Bakke. A scripture, obituary and eulogy was read by  Reed Egerstrom. Vocalist was Joan Egerstrom accompanied by pianist Pam Lawatsch and the violin was played by Frank Lawatsch.
Internment at Pepperton Cemetery, Alberta, Minnesota.

Arthur Ronald Carlson, son of Arthur and Lilias Carlson, was born July 26, 1942 in the Stevens County Hospital. He grew up and received his schooling in Morris, Minnesota. After graduating from high school, he attended UMM for two years and then joined the Army. 
August 31, 1968 he was united in marriage to Alta R. Lawson. Following their marriage, they lived in various places in Minnesota before settling in Benson.

Ron was a member of the First Evangelical Free Church of Benson, where he served in various jobs including, praise and worship music leadership, Sunday school teacher, deacon, elder, financial secretary and treasurer.

He worked for the MN Highway Department for several years, owned and operated several businesses, lastly Ron Carlson Machine in Benson. He enjoyed fishing, restoring old cars, music, old western movies, and his work at the machine shop. He also sang for many years in a quartet with Alta, Jerry and Junice Bryson.

Ron passed away June 22, 2020 at the Gabriel House in Murdock having lived to the age of 77 years, 322 days young.

He is survived by his wife Alta, son Eric (Kelly) Carlson of Benson, and daughter Amie Carlson of Kerkhoven; four grandchildren: Samantha, Isaac and Alex Carlson and Zachary Flaten; one brother, Rick (Kathy) Carlson of Morris  and a sister, Cheryl Ortiz of Breckenridge;  brothers-in-law, Ken (Sharon) Lawson, Rex (Donna Mae) Lawson, and sisters-in-law, Barb (Ralph) Cook, Sharon (Dave) Austvold, Karen Stephens, and Susan Rissanen and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son Peter Jon Carlson, and a granddaughter Isabella Rose Carlson, his parents Lilias and Arthur Carlson, and his in-laws, Lawrence and Helen Lawson.
