High school football and volleyball teams have from Sept. 14-Oct. 10 to practice

High school football and volleyball teams have been given the go-ahead to conduct official practices from Sept. 14 through Oct. 10 with a maximum of 12 practices during that four-week span. 

All four Benson and KMS volleyball and football coaches have said they will take advantage of that time to conduct team practices and prepare for an early-spring season in 2021 that has yet to be clarified, finalized, or officially scheduled.

KMS head football coach Jason Fernholz said he will be using the time to get his young squad up to speed for the 2021 season.  “The state announced that we are allowed to have 12 fall practices, and we will definitely be having practices,” coach Jason Fernholz said.  “I am working with our coaching staff and following guidelines from the school, MDH, and CDC to ensure the safety of our players and staff.  The intensity of our practices will vary; as of now, I am planning on having less physical practices and using more time for the guys to learn our system, including getting the new guys where they need to be and know where to go...”
