Some businesses should know by Sept. 15 if they get county grants

Many Swift County businesses should know by Sept. 15 if they have been awarded a $5,000 grant through the Coronavirus Relief Fund and Economic Assistance (CARES) Act funds the county received in July.

In all, the county was awarded $1,136,857 from the federal CARES Act and has until Dec. 31 to spend it or lose it. However, those funds must be spent on expenses tied to the fight against the COVID-19 virus.

In July, Swift County’s Board of Commissioners set aside $250,000 of its CARES Act funds to help businesses and non-profits in the county that had suffered a loss of business, or funding, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Applicaton for those funds are being handled through the county’s Rural Development Authority (RDA...)
