Jeanette E. Hawkinson, 98, of Benson, Minn. died Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at Southview Manor.  A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis Catholic Church with Interment in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are with Zniewski Funeral Home.  

 

Jeanette E. Hawkinson was born May 1, 1922 in Breckenridge, Minnesota, the daughter of James and Elizabeth Anne (O’Brien) Gilronan.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and grew up north of DeGraff on a farm.  Jeanette attended school in DeGraff and graduated from Benson High School.

 

On June 2, 1942, Jeanette was united in marriage to Wilbur Alvern Hawkinson at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson.  The couple was blessed with two children and 68 years of marriage.  They farmed in Cashel and Torning Townships and Jeanette was a Nurse’s Aide at Swift County Benson Hospital and worked at the Viking Café.

 

She belonged to the Farmers Union and enjoyed playing cards, square dancing, and visiting with family and friends.  Jeanette was called from this life on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at Southview Manor in Benson.  She attained the age of 98 years, 4 months and 28 days.

 

Jeanette is survived by her daughters: Helen (Jim) Amundson of Benson and Mary (Burton) Amundson of Benson; five grandchildren: Chris (Kristi) Amundson, Sara (Glen) Lowery, Jana (Tom) McGinty, Kathy Amundson, and Brian (fiancée Abby) Amundson; eight great-grandchildren: Megan Amundson, Eric Staton, Elizabeth Staton, Nicholas Staton, Lily Lowery, Kate Lowery, Ella McGinty, and Emily McGinty; one great-great-granddaughter: Lula Staton; and other relatives and friends.

 

Preceding her in death were her husband Wilbur in 2011; her parents; and one sister Catherine Lee.
