The U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration (EDA) is considering a request for Federal assistance from the City of Benson, MN to construct an Wastewater Treatment Facility Flood Protection Berm, and Wastewater Mainline Sewer Improvement Project in the City of Benson, Swift County, Minnesota for the purpose of protecting the facility that sits directly adjacent to the Chippewa River from flooding, as well as replacing a mainline  sanitary sewer to serve the Benson Industrial Park with a new 8” sanitary force main.  Pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 and the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended, EDA is conducting an environmental assessment (EA) of the proposed project.
The proposed wastewater treatment facility protection berm/levee is located at 200, 22nd Street South, Benson, Minnesota 56215 and the proposed wastewater mainline improvement project is located to the West of the Chippewa Bridge along Minnesota State Highway 9 in Benson, Minnesota.   The purpose of the project is to protect the facility that sits directly adjacent to the Chippewa River from flooding, as well as replacing a mainline sanitary sewer to serve the Benson Industrial Park with a new 8” sanitary force main.  Project information is available for review at City Hall, 1410 Kansas Avenue, Benson, Minnesota 56215.
