Braves lose close games to Waska and SC

The Benson boys basketball team dropped two games last week to fall to 1-5 overall and 0-4 in the WCC.  The Braves, who have lost three-straight, fell to Minnewaska at home last Tuesday night, 50-37, and also lost to Sauk Centre at home, Friday, 53-46.

After averaging close to 70 points a game last year, the Braves are averaging only about 57.5 points a game this season.

“Teams have keyed on our three-point shooting and have done a good job of slowing us down,” coach Adam Jensen said.  “We have a lot of underclassmen that haven’t seen a whole lot of varsity experience, so getting them accustomed to the pace and level of the varsity game has taken some time.  We keep getting better every game. We just need to clean up a few things, especially on the defensive end, and start knocking down some shots.”

Benson has three games scheduled this week, beginning with a game at home against BOLD, Monday, and continuing with a game at Morris Area-CA, Thursday (tomorrow), and another game Saturday at BOLD...
