CITY OF BENSON NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Planning Commission of the City of Benson, Swift County, Minnesota,  will hold a public hearing at Benson City Hall, 1410 Kansas Avenue in Benson, on Monday, October 26th, 2020 at 12:00 pm to consider an amendment to the City Plan to change the land use from Low Density Residential to General Business at 612 Church Street (PID 23-0873-00) and 1310 Aldrich Avenue (PID 23-0874-00).
Those wishing to be heard on the above item should attend the meeting or attend virtually via Free Conference Calls.com, 425-436-6384, Code 457987#. Written comments may be submitted to the City no later than 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2020; or e-mailed to rob.wolfington@city.co.swift.mn.us. PUBLIC ACCURACY TEST

The Public Accuracy Test for the following precincts will be held Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at 9:00 a.m.   Testing will be held in the Auditor’s Office - Swift County Courthouse located at 301 14th Street North, Benson, MN 56215 for the General Election on November 3, 2020.  The precincts being tested are the Townships of:  Appleton, Benson, Camp Lake,  Clontarf, Cashel, Dublin, Edison, Fairfield, Hayes, Hegbert, Kerkhoven,  Kildare, Marysland, Moyer, Pillsbury, Shible,  Six Mile Grove, Swenoda, Tara and Westbank; and the Cities of:  Clontarf, Danvers, DeGraff, Holloway, and Murdock.  The Public is invited to attend.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 beginning at 12:00 o’clock P.M. at the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 1410 Kansas Avenue, Benson, Minnesota.  The purpose of this hearing is to take public comment either for or against rezoning the following properties from Low Density Residential (R-1) to General Business (B-2):

   The Swift/Kandiyohi Joint Board of Commissioners, acting as Drainage Authority for Joint County Ditch #19 received a petition requesting permission to outlet lands into Joint County Ditch #19, SW ¼ of the SW ¼ of section #8 -T121-N, R39-W (Torning Township).   The Drainage Authority will conduct a public hearing and describe the property to be benefited by the drainage system and if approved, discuss the outlet fee and benefits to the property.  Because of Covid 19 a zoom address is available below.

DEMOLITION OF COMMERCIAL BUILDING RFP

The City of Appleton is accepting proposals for the demolition of a commercial building located at 249 N Miles Street, Appleton, MN 56208. RFP documents are available on the City of Appleton website under the procurement link at www.appletonmn.com or in person. Proposals must be delivered to the City of Appleton, 323 West Schlieman Ave, Appleton, MN 56208 no later than 3:00 pm, October 16, 2020. Provide a lump sum proposal on the proposal form. The City of Appleton reserves the right to reject any and all proposals and to award the contract to the lowest responsible proposer pursuant to Minn.Stat. § 16C, Subd. 1b. The successful proposer will enter into a formal contract. The work must be completed within 30 days of the notice to proceed, or by December 31, 2020.

The meeting was called to order at 5:32 p.m. by Chair Brian Samuelson.  Members present:  Jim Berens, Bill McGeary, Mary KW Langan, Eric Peterson, Brian Samuelson, Paul Carruth, and Gary Williams.  Members absent:  None.
Additions to the Agenda:  7.1.1 Roof Structure - Gymnastics/Activity Space Building.
Agenda approved.
Citizens Comments:  Mark Hughes asked for an update on how Distance Learning went.
Consent Agenda approved.
Progress Reports presented by the administrators.
Board Committee Reports:  The Food Service Committee met and their report will be presented under New Business.
Gymnastics Bids:  Approved bid categories 3, 4, 11, and 12 as presented for a total cost of $1,524,419.00.

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 777, Benson, Minnesota Monday, August 03, 2020 • 5:30 p.m. Swift County Law Enforcement Center and Virtual Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 5:44 p.m. by Chair Brian Samuelson.  Members present:  Paul Carruth, Mary KW Langan, Bill McGeary, Eric Peterson, Brian Samuelson, Gary Williams, James Berens.  Members absent:  None.
A tour of the construction progress at the high school was conducted at 4:30 p.m.
Addition to the Agenda:  Technology Plan.
Gymnastics Activity Facility:  The quotes for the playable floor are not in at this time and will be presented at the August 17, 2020 board meeting.  A motion was made to reduce the size of the gymnastics pit to bring the project closer to budget.  Motion not seconded; motion failed.
Technology Plan:  This is the first reading.
Coronavirus Update:  Approved a Resolution Adoption of Base Learning Model for the 2020-2021 School Year and Other Covid-19 Related Matters and open on September 8, 2020 in an in-person learning for all model.
A discussion was held on Strategic Planning.
