MINUTES OF THE REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 777, Benson, Minnesota Monday, January 4, 2021 – 5:30 p.m. Northside Elementary Cafeteria

The organizational meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. by Brian Samuelson.
Members present:  Paul Carruth, Mary KW Langan, Bill McGeary, Brian Samuelson, James Berens, Eric Peterson and Gary Williams (virtual).  Members absent:  None
Also present:  Dennis Laumeyer, Mike Knutson, Garrett Schmidt, Katie Foley, Lori Eix, Julie Loen, Amanda Carruth.
Brian Samuelson led the four newly elected members in the Oath of Office:  Mary KW Langan, Bill McGeary, Gary Williams, Eric Peterson.
Organization of School Board:  Brian Samuelson elected Chairperson, Gary Williams elected Vice-Chair, Mary KW Langan elected Clerk, Bill McGeary elected Treasurer.
School board meeting schedule approved as presented for 2021.
Swift County Monitor-News designated as the official newspaper.

Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held for the purpose of providing information and receiving public comment concerning the quality of housing, the costs associated with activities herein described and regarding the submission of a final Small Cities Development Program grant application to the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED). The proposed grant is for rehabilitation of low/moderate income single family and commercial rehabilitation in designated areas of the community. All interested persons are invited. The meeting was called to order at 5:35 p.m. by Chair Brian Samuelson.  Members present:  Paul Carruth, Mary KW Langan, Brian Samuelson, Gary Williams, James Berens, Bill McGeary.  Members absent:  Eric Peterson.

Construction Manager Ryan Breitbach provided a construction and budget update.
500 Policy Series:  Approved policies 501, 502, 503, 504, 505, 506, 506 Form, 507, 508, 509 based on changes recommended by MSBA to meet law.
Approved Payable 2021 Levy at $3,682,784.61, a 6.24% ($245,102.66) reduction compared to Payable 2020.
Adopted the E-Learning Day Plan.
Approved the Teacher Severance Memorandum of Understanding.

Independent School District 777 ("District") requests proposals for group insurance coverage for the health plan year beginning July 1, 2021. Sealed proposals will be accepted in paper form until 3:15 pm central time on Monday, March  29  at the  District  office, ISD 777, 1400 Montana Ave, Benson, MN 56215. Copies of the complete  Request  For  Proposal  requested  from  Katie Foley kfoley@benson.k12.mn.us will be sent electronically at no charge.   District reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities.  District  reserves  the right  to  select the proposal which it determines to be in the best interest of the District.

PUBLIC NOTICE

 The Langhei Township Annual meeting will be held on March 9, 2021.  The elections are for one Supervisor (3yr. term) and Treasurer (2yr. term). Voting hours are 5:00-8:00 p.m. The Annual Meeting will be held from 4:00-5:00 p.m. at the Langhei Township Hall.  In case of inclement weather the election will be held on March 16, 2021, same place and time.

PUBLIC NOTICE

The U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration (EDA) has funded an award for Federal assistance from the City of Benson to construct a Wastewater Treatment Facility Flood Control Berm and wastewater mainline sewer improvement project in the City of Benson, Swift County Minnesota for the purpose of protecting the facility that sits directly adjacent to the Chippewa River from flooding. Pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 and the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended, EDA has conducted an environmental assessment (EA) of the project.
