Benson girls fall below .500 with two losses

The Benson girls basketball team came into last week with a 3-2 record and had two games on the schedule. First, the Braves were on the road against the Canby Lancers Dec. 16 and dropped the game 65-24. The following day, Benson hosted Dawson-Boyd and in a game of runs, the Blackjacks made the final run to take a 65-54 victory over the Braves to make Benson’s record 3-4.

The Braves fell back to .500 with a 3-3 record when they fell to Canby on the road last week. The Lancers led from wire-to-wire against Benson and earned a stress-free 65-24 win over the Braves.
Canby started the game hot and jumped out to a 20-5 advantage in the first half. The Lancers cruised their way through the rest of the half and held a 37-17 advantage at the halftime break.
The lead continued to grow in the second half of play and Canby outscored Benson 28-7 in the final 18 minutes to cruise to a 65-24 win over Benson.
