Benson/KMS scores season high in loss to top-ranked Melrose

The Benson/KMS gymnastics team continued their great season last week with a pair of dual meets. The team started on the road with a 138.275-126.7 win over Litchfield Jan. 14. Next, the Benson/KMS, as the 11th ranked team in the state, welcomed the top-ranked Melrose team to Benson Jan. 16. Although Benson/KMS scored their season high with 139.3 points, Melrose scored 142.65 to narrowly edge out Benson/KMS.

Benson/KMS ran away with their road meet against the Litchfield Dragons. It was a clean sweep in all four events for Benson/KMS, led by Lexi Hoberg and Gwen Wilcox, who finished first and second in the all around competition.
Benson/KMS earned the team win on the vault by a score of 35.05-33.35. Wilcox won the event with a score of 8.9. Hoberg and Jada O’Leary both tied for second with 8.85 and Mya McGeary was fifth with 8.45.
Benson/KMS was on top again on the bars with a 31.525-29 advantage over the Dragons. Wilcox won her second event with a score of 8.125. Hoberg was right behind her in second with 8.0. Jada O’Leary was third with 7.75 and Mia Post came in fourth with 7.65.
