BHS gymnastics closes regular season with win
The Benson-KMS gymnastics team closed out the regular-season schedule with a 127.875-122.275 victory over Morris Area-CA last Tuesday night in the Benson Armory.
The win pushed the team’s overall record to 7-1 and conference mark to 3-1. The only loss for the Fighting Braves this season was to Melrose, rated second in the state.
MiKaylie Hagen edged a gymnast from Morris Area for the all-around title with a score of 33.375, while Mariah Ahrndt, Sophie Ascheman, and Halle Hanson were third, fourth, and fifth in the all-around.
Next up is the WCC Gymnastics Tournament, set to take place at Benson High School this year. The Fighting Braves will host the event at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 7. Also coming up is the Section 6A Gymnastics Tournament, set for Valentine’s Day, Saturday, Feb. 14 at NLS.
