Braves volleyball swept twice in two conference matchups

With the 2024 volleyball season winding down, Benson played two of their final three games on the regular season schedule. The Braves were on the road Oct. 8 against the seventh ranked team in Class AA, Sauk Centre and were swept 3-0. Two days later, Benson was at home against Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta and was swept again 3-0 to fall to 3-16 overall.

The Braves had a tall task on the schedule when they were on the road against the West Central Conference leading and seventh ranked team in Class AA, Sauk Centre Mainstreeters. Benson did not have much of an answer for the Streeters as they were swept 3-0.
The best set for Benson came right off the bat. The Braves battled with Sauk Centre through the first set, but the Streeters did finish with a 25-17 win. The next two sets were all Sauk Centre with wins of 25-9 and 25-10 to ice away the sweep.
As a team, Benson only finished the match with 11 total kills. Carly Tolifson and Madison Osterbauer each had four kills, Jada O’Leary had two and Julia Claussen added one. Claussen finished with all 10 of the team’s set assists.
At the service line, the Braves had three ace serves with one each from Mya McGeary, Sophie Hilleren and Julia Claussen.
On defense, Kaida Helgenset led the team with 15 digs, Tolifson added 10, Sophie Krusemark dug out seven, Claussen had six and McGeary tallied five. At the net, Tolifson and Osterbauer each led the team with three blocks and Helgenset added one.
