Carol Henry Rieffer, March 22, 1937 • May 10, 2023

Carol Henry Rieffer,  86,  took Jesus’s hand into heaven  May 10, 2023.

Funeral services will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow at the South Dakota State Veteran’s Cemetery.  Family will be present one hour before the service to greet friends.

Carol was born March 22, 1937, in Algona, Iowa. He graduated from Rake High School May 17, 1956. After graduation, he entered the Navy Air Force and fulfilled his dream of traveling the world while aboard the USS Ranger. Carol served honorably until July 9, 1959.

Upon returning to civilian life, Carol met and married Marian Leopold. Throughout Carol’s life he was always unafraid of challenges and venturing into the unknown. Throughout the years, he founded multiple small businesses, as well as put plows to pasture to transform the ground into fruitful acres. With Marian, Carol cultivated a family of four children that continues to branch and grow today. He will forever be remembered for his ingenuity, big heart, and shining smile.

Carol was preceded in death by his parents; brothers:  Jerald Ray and David; son in law Jim and many other aunts  and uncles.

Carol is survived by his wife, Marian; children: Michelle Kent, Max (Traci) Rieffer, Cyndi Rieffer, Carla (Mike) Juhler; grandchildren: Mike Kent, John Kent, Katie Kent, Chris Kent, Kyle Rieffer, Peter Rieffer, LisaDawn Rieffer, Alyssa (Terry) Juhler,  Katelyn Juhler; great grandchildren:  Ethan Juhler, Dominic Juhler, Asher Juhler.
