DeHaan’s late goal gives MBA boys hockey team 3-2 victory over Willmar

Brady DeHaan’s goal with 1:54 left in the game gave MBA a thrilling 3-2 victory over Willmar in the first game this season at the Benson Civic Center.
The two teams went back-and-forth for over 48 minutes before DeHaan’s goal gave MBA its second win of the season.
The Storm were also set to play at Windom Area, Friday, but that game was postponed until a later date.
MBA, which is 2-2 after four games, has four-straight road games coming up before the Benson Invitational, Dec. 28-29.
The Storm were set to play at Northern Lakes, Tuesday (yesterday) before skating at Red Lake Falls, Friday, and at Worthington, Saturday, as part of a girls-boys hockey doubleheader.

Brady DeHaan’s goal with 2:54 left in the game gave MBA a 3-2 victory over Willmar, Thursday night at the Benson Civic Center.
MBA, which scored one goal in each period, outshot the visitors 39-26, but the Willmar netminder stopped 36 shots to keep the Cardinals in the game.
Willmar scored first at the 9:11 mark of the first period, but Brett Hansen tied it up for the Storm with a shorthanded goal three minutes later.
MBA went up 2-1 with a goal by Cole Blume at the 5:18 mark of the second period, but Willmar tied it up five minutes later and that’s the way the score stayed for the next 21 minutes.
With only a few minutes left in the game, DeHaan scored the gamewinner off an assist from Brett Hansen.
MBA, which was called for four penalties totaling eight minutes, also got an assist from Tim Blume on his brother Cole’s goal.
Christopher Danielson stopped 24 shots in net for the Storm, who improved to 2-2 overall.
