Dineen first, Bolduc third at WCA Tourney

The Benson wrestling team had a busy week last week, competing at the Osakis triangular last Tuesday and also wrestling at the West Central Area Tournament, Saturday at Barrett.
The Braves lost both matches at the Osakis triangular, falling to Osakis (38-36) and WCA (53-21).  At the WCA Tourney, Benson placed 10th of 11 teams with Thomas Dineen earning first at 195 pounds and Nathan Bolduc earning third at 170.
This week, the Braves were set to wrestle at Quad County, Thursday (tomorrow) and at the Monticello Invitational, Saturday.

The Braves fell twice at the Osakis triangular last Tuesday night, losing to the host team in a close match, 38-36, and also falling to West Central Area-Ashby-Brandon-Evansville, 53-21.  Going 2-0 for the Braves were Nathan Bolduc and Thomas Dineen.
In the loss to WCA, Blake Nagler earned a pin at 126 pounds, but Benson trailed 32-6 after half the matches.
Nick Bolduc won by a 14-8 decision at 152 pounds, while Nathan Bolduc earned a 56-second pin at 170 pounds and Thomas Dineen won by a fall in 3:13 at 195 pounds for Benson’s other wins.
WCA had four pins, three forfeits victories, and one technical fall.
•  In the loss to Osakis, Benson trailed 38-6 before winning the final five contests with forfeits to cut the deficit to 38-36.
In the first nine matches, Benson’s only win was a pin in 25 seconds by Blake Wieme at 132.
Osakis meanwhile, won four of the first nine matches by pin, two by major decisions, and two others by three-point wins.
Trailing 38-6, Aiden Ehmcke (170 pounds), Nathan Bolduc (182), Teegan Hogrefe (195), Thomas Dineen (220), and John Kobbermann (285) ended the match with forfeit wins, but it wasn’t quite enough to lift the Braves to the win.
