Filings for city council, school board open Aug. 2

At Monday night’s Benson City Council meeting, Mayor Terri Collins reminded council members that the filing period for office starts Aug. 2 and runs through Aug. 16. She added that she would like council members to be able to announce by the council’s Aug. 2 meeting whether or not they will be filing.
The mayor’s two-year term and the four-year terms of two council members will be on the ballot in November. Council Members Lucas Olson and Jon Buyck are the two whose terms are expiring this year. Mark Schreck and Jack Evenson are the other two council members.
