Roger Joseph Ebnet entered not guilty pleas to three second degree criminal sexual conduct charges in 8th Judicial District Court at his omnibus hearing last Tuesday, March 28,.

His hearing was conducted remotely with more than 350 people logging on to hear the proceedings. Ebnet was represented at the hearing by Minneapolis attorney Dan Mohs.

A motion hearing is now scheduled for May 31 at 1:30 p.m. and will be in person at the Swift County courthouse.

At an omnibus hearing, a defendant’s attorney can raise pre-trial legal issues such as whether there was probable cause for the charges against his client, or if his constitutional rights were violated prior to, during, or after his arrest.

If the defendant’s attorney believes there were violations of his client’s constitutional rights, a hearing is set at which motions to dismiss or suppress evidence gained by the prosecution are submitted.
