Gerald Martin Weiss, August 5, 1947 • August 16, 2022

Lead Summary

Gerald Martin Weiss, loving brother and uncle, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2022  at the age of 75.
Gerry was born August 5, 1947 in Benson, Minnesota.  Gerry had a love for music from an early age.  He grew up playing piano beside his mother and later taught piano lessons.  He moved to the Dallas area after graduation to be closer to his older brother Don where he played rugby with the Harlequins and coached children’s soccer after he retired from active play.
Gerry had a passion for the outdoors.  He was an avid fisherman along with his three brothers and they often had an active competition to one-up each other with the bigger fish or claim the other “got skunked” if they didn’t catch anything.  Gerry loved to tell stories, which typically started with, “Did I ever tell you about a time when…”
He moved to Colorado in recent years where his favorite story was about bobcats who left pawprints on his windshield.  Gerry was a voracious reader with a photographic memory and was rarely seen without a book in his hand.
Gerry was preceded in death by his father Herbert, his mother Lydia, his infant sister, and his brothers Wallace and Alan. He is survived by his brother Don (and wife Estell), his nephews: Steve, Mark, Paul, and Phil, and his nieces Christine, Donna, and Cindy.
Burial will be at the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in rural Morris, Minnesota at a later date.
