Gjerde reaches 1,000 points during loss to DB

The KMS boys basketball team fell to 8-9 overall with a 73-61 loss to Dawson-Boyd last Tuesday night in Kerkhoven.
During the game, Weston Gjerde became the eighth KMS boy to reach 1,000 points.  Gjerde needed four points to reach 1,000 career points, and he sank a three-pointer late in the first half to join the list of 1,000-point players.  At that time, the game was stopped, he was congratulated by coaches and teammates, and he ran up into the stands to award the game ball to his parents.
He joins Chuck Lierman (1,425 points), Ken Gregoire (1,245), Justin Laughlin (1,220), Josh Peterson (1,174), Cole Berget (1,085), Taylor Freetly (1,070), and Steve Gulsvig(1,016) on the 1,000-point scoring list for KMS...
