Hulda A. Johnson

Hulda A. Johnson, 88 of Benson, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at GlenOaks Care Center in New London.  Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Our Redeemers Lutheran Church in Benson.  Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Church and also one hour prior to service.  Burial will be in the Benson City Cemetery.   Arrangements are with the Harvey Anderson and Johnson Funeral Home                                                     www.hafh.org
 
Hulda Alma Johnson was born on Aug. 29, 1924 on the family farm in Havelock Township, the daughter of August and Agnes (Redehl) Maus.  She grew up on the family farm and attended country grade school.  On September 5, 1943, Hulda was united in marriage to Morris Johnson.  To this union two daughters and four sons were born.  They made their home in Tracy for a few years before moving to Benson where Hulda worked as a homemaker.  Hulda and Morris were able to share in 27 years of marriage before his death on December 29, 1970.
 
Hulda was a member of Our Redeemers Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, flower gardening, visiting and with friends over coffee at Breens and baking.  She loved providing care packages for family and friends and was well known for her peanut butter cups and Norwegians pastries. Her passion was for her family and always looked forward to her many visits to see her children and grandchildren.
 
Hulda died on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the GlenOaks Care Center in New London at the age of 88.  She is survived by her children, Barbara (Larry) Smith of Benson, Van Johnson of North Platte, NE, Pamela (Arnold) Arends of New London, Tony Johnson of Willmar, Randy Johnson (Jackie Schuerman) of Sauk Rapids and Duane Johnson (Julie Weber) of Sauk Rapids; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; siblings, Caroline Stowell, Arnold (Alvina) Maus, Ted Maus, Oscar (Norma) Maus and Bill (Lilly) Maus and sisters-in-law, Eleanor Maus and Helen Maus.
 
Hulda was preceded in death by her husband, Morris; granddaughter, Brenda Smith, infant grandson; parents, two sisters and five brothers.
