It was a tough winter for area’s law enforcement

With the Benson area seeing its first 50-degree high Monday since Nov. 25, and highs near 70 degrees forecast for the middle of the week, it is hard to recall that just a week ago there was a winter storm watch in effect.

From December through the first week of April, there were at least 29 days where a wind advisory, winter weather advisory, winter weather warning, winter storm warning, blizzard warning, was issued by the National Weather Service.

It was an overly long, brutal winter, but for no one was it more of a challenge than the local law enforcement officers who had to patrol the highways, county roads, and township roads.
