James Edward Fredine, born June 5, 1947 in Duluth, Minnesota died at home July 10, 2025 in Coon Rapids, Minnesota after a short battle with cancer. He spent the first part of his life in Benson, Minnesota before moving to Cloquet, Minnesota. After discharge from the United States Air Force in 1970, he lived in Dayton, MN. He worked as an accountant and human resources director for many years at Great River Energy and raised two sons with his wife, Barbara. After retirement, he spent the last 15 years mostly in Starbuck, MN fishing, relaxing, and restoring old cars.
Jef, as he was known by many, was warm-hearted and loved by all who knew him. He had many long-lasting friendships and a family that will miss him intensely. He impacted the lives of many with his words of wisdom and his gregarious nature. He loved having a good time, and many people enjoyed having a good time with him. He got along with everybody.
He is survived by his loving sons, Edward (Jessica) and Brian Fredine; grandchildren: Eleanor and Joseph Fredine, and wife of 39 years, the love of his life, Barbara Fredine. He was preceded in death by his father Edward, mother Ann, and sister Mary.
Per his request, there will be no funeral. Private services have been held. He will be laid to rest at Cedar Cemetary in Andover, MN.
