Kimball shuts out Braves in season opener, 42-0

The Benson Braves ran into a very strong Kimball Area football team in the season opener Friday night, and the result was a 42-0 shutout. The Cubs, who outgained the Braves in total yards 460-46, led 28-0 after two quarters and coasted to the dominating win.

Benson got 62 rushing yards from Thomas Dineen, but the Braves were unable to get anything else going against Kimball, which had two runners gain over 100 yards rushing.

“Kimball was as advertised,” Benson coach Adam Foslien said.  “Coaches knew Kimball was going to be really good this year, and they showed it tonight.  They have some really good football players.”

The Braves will try to go after win No. 1 this Friday at 7 p.m. against Long Prairie-Grey Eagle on Brock Field.  It’s also Parents Night for the Braves...
