Mary Ann (O’Connor) Hawkins was born on the family farm, rural Benson, Minnesota March 16, 1935. She died  November 5, 2023 in Roseville at the age of  88.

Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, Nov. 10, 10:30 a.m., at the Church of the Holy Childhood, 1435 Midway Pkwy. Visitation  will be Thursday, Nov. 9 from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Roseville Memorial Chapel, 2245 N. Hamline Ave, and for one hour prior to funeral at the church.

Mary Ann graduated from Benson High School in 1953, St. Teresa’s College in Winona in 1958 and married Dick in 1960.

Mary Ann was proud of her Irish heritage, being a farm girl, and graduating from a one-room schoolhouse. She placed faith, family, and service to others at the center of her life. She was a loving caregiver for her children, grandchildren, aging parents, neighbors, parish family, and any in the broader community needing extra support. She will be remembered for her gentle and kind ways and will be dearly missed.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by a son Michael;  parents John and Ethel O’Connor (McQuaid); brother Jim (Betty) O’Connor; and in-laws: Jack Shekleton, Dan Hawkins, and Joan Hawkins.

She is survived by loving husband of 63 years, Richard (Dick); children: Mary (Jim) Wappes, Kathleen (Kelvin) Oscarson, Ann-Marie (Tom) Magee, Jim (Heather), and John (Theresa); 19 grandchildren: Brendan (fiancée Emily), Marie, Michael (Katie), Deacon Joe, Jacinta, Ben, Bella, Rosa, Jake, Sophia, Owen, Elizabeth, Michaela, Amanda, Dominic, Morgan, Josie, Charlie, and Finn; siblings: Margaret Shekleton, Pat (Joanne) O’Connor; special cousin Ann Schoenbauer;  in-laws: Hugh Hawkins, Jerry (Dorothy) Hawkins, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred: Michael Hawkins Scholarship Fund at Holy Childhood Catholic Church or Jack’s Basket (celebrating children with Down syndrome).

Arrangements are by the Roseville Memorial Chapel, 651-631-2727.
