McGeary leads gymnasts to team title at Maple Lake

The Benson-KMS gymnastics team competed in two meets last week.  The Fighting Braves improved to 3-2 overall with a 134.75-112.15 victory over Paynesville-EVW last Tuesday night in Benson, and Benson-KMS also competed at the Maple Lake Invitational, Saturday, winning the four-team meet with a score of 135.75.
Libby McGeary won both all-around competitions during the week, scoring a 35.1 at home and a 35.75 at the Maple Lake Invitational.
Only four regular-season meets remain before the Section 6A Meet, Saturday, Feb. 12, including a meet at home against Long Prairie-GE, Thursday (tomorrow).
BKMS 134.75, Pay-EVW 112.15
Competing in their first meet in three weeks, the Benson-KMS gymnastics team improved to 3-2 overall with a 134.75-112.15 victory over Paynesville-Eden Valley-Watkins last Tuesday night at the Benson Athletic Center.
Libby McGeary and Lexi Hoberg led the Fighting Braves during the win.  McGeary placed first in the all-around with a score of 35.1 and also won the vault (9.35) and  uneven bars (9.0), while Hoberg placed second in the all-around with a score of 32.45.
Benson-KMS swept the top five places in the bars, beam, and floor exercise, and also had four of the top five finishes in the vault.
Gwen Wilcox won the balance beam (8.15), and was also fifth on the floor (7.95), while Elise Duncan won the floor exercise (9.1) and was also third on the bars (7.95) and fifth on the beam (7.2).
Libby McGeary also placed second on the beam (8.0) and floor (8.75), while Hoberg had high finishes of third on the beam (7.8), fourth on the floor (8.45) and bars (7.7), and fifth on the vault (8.5).
Torie Andrews added a second-place finish on the vault (8.8) and was also third on the floor (8.7), while Taylor Rohner-Swart was second on the bars (8.2) and fourth on the vault (8.55).
Also competing for the Benson-KMS varsity were Olivia Noble, who was fifth on the bars (7.15), and Mya McGeary, who was fourth on the beam (7.75) and seventh on the vault (8.45).
