MINUTES OF THE WORK SESSION SCHOOL BOARD MEETING
INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 777, Benson, Minnesota
 Monday, April 1, 2019 – 5:30 p.m.
Benson High School Media Center
The work session meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. by Chair Brian Samuelson at Northside Elementary.  Members present:  Jim Berens, Paul Carruth, Mary Langan, Bill McGeary, Eric Peterson, Brian Samuelson.
Department/Grade Level Presentations:
Julie Carroll, Mitch Maurer and Lindsay Smith presented an overview of the 3rd Grade Department in Northside classrooms, highlighting the STEM projects.
Meeting resumed at the High School Media Center at 5:58 p.m.
Scott Gonnerman presented information including the upcoming 5th & 6th Grade Class Trip on April 16 to the State Capitol and Fort Snelling, funded by a grant for transportation and the Robert Sonsteng Foundation; MCA Reading and Math Testing takes place in April; Students are working on projects on Chromebooks which were purchased in part in 2017 with funding from the Benson Braves Foundation, formed in 2014 and has awarded over $13,000 so far; New this year is the Benson Elementary Facebook page used to highlight activities.
Preliminary FY20 Budget:  The board walked through each proposed reduction item, took comments from the public and discussed each item. The Budget Committee will meet on April 9th. No action taken.
