Ronald D. Williams, 89, of Benson, Minnesota died Thursday morning, February 23, 2023, at the St. Cloud Hospital. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 2, 2023, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Ronald Dean Williams was born May 19, 1933, in Appleton, Minnesota, the son of Raymond and Helen Allpress Williams. He grew up in Swift County and was a 1951 graduate of Benson Senior High School. He served our country by enlisting in the United States Army in 1955 and served during the Korean War.

June 13, 1953, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Jean Sanders at Swenoda Lutheran Church. He worked for the telephone company and ran the DX station and was the Buick/Pontiac Dealer in Benson. He started his own business South Town JEEP where he sold JEEP, Homelite chainsaws, and Snojet snowmobiles. He also farmed. He was involved in volunteer work in the community including gun safety training, snowmobile safety training, SWMF (life connections), helping with dinners and ushering at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church, and working as a maintenance man at Scofield Place. Ron was a lifelong member of the Benson V. F. W. Post #1403 and the NRA.

Ronald loved flying and owned his own plane. He thoroughly enjoyed visiting with all his coffee buddies at Sandy’s Café and at Burger King. During the summertime, he treasured the time spent at Lake Scandi and Lake Mary. Ronald loved spending time with his family and friends. He was called from this life Thursday morning, February 23, 2023, at the St. Cloud Hospital. He attained the age of 89, years, nine months, and four days.

Ronald is survived by his wife Dorothy of Benson; daughters: Lori (Gary) Broesder of Starbuck, Linda (Joe) Holland of Morris, Lynette (Tim) Bonnema of Montrose; grandchildren: Nathan (Lindsey) Dillon, Daryl (Dawn) Broesder, Mary (Aaron Belzer) Dillon, Kristi (Brian) Kramber, Tom (Alyssa) Holland, Beth (Chandler) Erickson, Becca Holland, and Miranda Blumenfeld; great grandchildren: Thomas and Lucas Broesder, Brayden Kramber, Ella and Joshua Holland, Emma and Lloyd Erickson, and Kameha Monthly; siblings: Norma (Dick) Bjerstedt, Neil Williams, and Gary (Connie) Williams; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Ray and Helen, his mother-in-law and father -in-law Vern and Beulah Sanders; his brother, Dale Williams, sisters-in-law: Karen and Marsha Williams and two nephews, Jeff and Erick Bjerstedt.
