Springfield scored 28 unanswered points en route to a 28-6 victory over Kerkhoven - Murdock - Sunburg in the Class A State Football Tournament Friday, Nov. 11, at Crown College’s Old National Bank Stadium in St. Bonifacius.
The Fighting Saints couldn’t have asked for a better start to the state quarterfinal game. The backfield duo of Chase Magaard and Hunter Kallstrom moved KMS down the field, going 70 yards in 13 plays. The drive chewed up nearly eight minutes of the first quarter in a true grind-it-out mentality that KMS has done throughout the postseason. Kallstrom finished off the drive with an 11-yard run into the end zone to put his team ahead 6-0.
