Severe drought conditions spread into western Minnesota

When the temperature fell to 12 degrees Wednesday morning, it broke the record low for Oct. 19 of 13 degrees set in 1972.
It was also the third coldest low recorded in the month of October. Only the record low for the month of October of 7 degrees set Oct. 18 and the low of 9 degrees Oct, 27, 1976 were colder. The high of 37 degrees Oct. 17 tied the record coldest high temperature for the date, joining 1972 for the dubious record.
