Storm top Breck-Wahpeton for sixth win

The MBA boys hockey team went 1-2 last week, falling to Marshall last Tuesday night in Benson (3-0); winning at Breckenridge-Wahpeton, Thursday (7-2), and losing at Red Lake Falls, Friday (4-2).
The Storm, 6-16 overall, are currently tied with Windom for third place in the Southwest Conference with 3-5 records behind league-leading Luverne (7-0) and Marshall (8-1).
With only three regular-season games to go, MBA was set to host its final regular-season game in Benson, Monday against Redwood Valley followed by a game at Prairie Center in Sauk Center, Thursday (tomorrow).
Taner Gimberlin, who leads the Storm with 39 points this year, has an unofficial 97 career points with at least four games to go, giving him a great shot at reaching 100 for his career.
Marshall 3, MBA 0
The MBA boys hockey team was shut out for the second-straight game and only the third time this season with a 3-0 loss to Marshall last Tuesday night at the Benson Civic Center.
Marshall scored one goal in each period to beat the Storm for the second time this season after beating MBA 7-1, Dec. 16 in Marshall.
Blaine Moran scored the first and last goals for Marshall, which scored one goal in each period, including a powerplay goal in the second period.
Three penalties were called on both Marshall and MBA during the game, totaling six minutes each.
Tony Bruns stopped 40 shots in net for the Storm, which was outshot 43-20 by Marshall.
