Memorial services for Genevieve Morrissey, 99, of Benson, Minnesota (formerly of Morris) will be held at a later date. Genevieve died Monday, November 30, 2020 at Central MN Senior Care in Benson.
Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris is in charge of arrangements.

Alvina M. Amundson

Alvina Mae Amundson, 89, of Benson, Minnesota passed away Thursday morning, November 26, at the Rice Care Center in Willmar. A private family service will be held at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church with interment in the Benson City Cemetery.

Alvina Mae Amundson was born July 9, 1931 in Benson, daughter of Albert and Myrtle Hagen. She was baptized  September 6, 1931 at Six Mile Grove Church and confirmed into the Christian faith June 2, 1946 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Alvina attended Benson Public Schools until the 8th grade. After leaving school, she got a job at Benson Produce. She also worked for her parents babysitting her siblings.

October 1, 1948, Alvina was united in marriage to Russell Verdi Amundson at the Swift County Hospital by the Justice of the Peace. This marriage was blessed with seven children. They were able to share 60 years of marriage.

Geraldine Swan

Geraldine Swan, 74, of Benson, Minnesota died Sunday evening, December 6, 2020, at Scandi Haven Village, in Benson.

A private family service will be held with burial in the Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Geraldine Leona Swan was born February 24, 1946, in Ortonville, Minnesota, the daughter of Frank and Lorena Longhenry Hamann. She grew up in the Ortonville and Graceville area.   

August 22, 1964, Gerry was united in marriage to Ronald Swan in St. Paul. They were blessed with more than 51 years of marriage. They lived in the San Diego, CA area from 1964-1971 while Ron served in the United States Marine Corps. After he left the military, they moved back to Minnesota. From 1971-2015, they lived in rural Chippewa, Kandiyohi and Swift Counties, Alexandria, eventually settling back in Kerkhoven. In 1979, they were blessed with the birth of their daughter. After Ron's passing in 2015, Gerry moved to Benson to be closer to her family.

A private family service will be held at Frank Lake Covenant Church with interment in the Benson City Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Zniewski Funeral Home of Benson. Dale Roland Dahl

Dale Roland Dahl, 87, of Benson, Minnesota, died Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at the Glacial Ridge Hospital in Glenwood.  

A private family funeral mass will be held at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson.  Interment will be at the St. Francis Catholic Church Cemetery in Benson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Starbuck Ambulance are preferred.

Dale was born November 30, 1933, at home in Ayrshire, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Evelyn (Fletcher) Dahl. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Faith.

Dale proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956.  He was aboard the USS Iowa.

Gretchen Hellie

Gretchen Janice Dokken Hellie, 80, of St Croix Falls, Wisconsin passed away Monday, November 30, 2020 at Golden Age Manor, Amery, Wisconsin.

A private service for immediate family was held Saturday Dec 5, 2020 followed by a visitation at Williamson White Funeral Home, Amery, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. for extended family and friends.  

Gretchen was born June 4, 1940 in Benson, Minnesota to Garfield and Jonnette Dokken.  She grew up and attended Benson Public Schools graduating in 1958.  Gretchen was a scholar at heart and she tirelessly pursued her degree in Music at Concordia College, Moorhead, and the University of Minnesota, Morris.

Debra Jean Kill

Debra Kill, 63, of Big Lake, Minnesota passed away peacefully surrounded by her family the morning of November 21, 2020.

A memorial service for Debra will be held in the spring of 2021 at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson.

Debra was born November 25 1956, the daughter of Leo and Roberta Wrobleski. She grew up in Benson and graduated from high school and went on to nursing school and graduated from Alexandria Technical College as a LPN. She worked her whole career as a LPN at Nursing Homes in Minnesota and Arizona until she retired at age 62. Once all of her three children were out of the house Deb and her husband Ed decided to move to Arizona. They lived there for 14 years and decided to move back to Minnesota to be closer to family. Then when they both retired they became snowbirds back in Arizona.

Irene (Grendahl) Andrews

Irene Elizabeth (Baresh-Grendahl) Andrews passed away of natural causes November 11, 2020 at her home in Laurel, Montana.  

She was born into the Joseph and Anna Baresh family, Duluth, Minnesota in 1922.  She graduated from Barnum High School in 1939.  At age 16, she left home to work as the bookkeeper for Charlie and Viola Hecker in DeGraff for three-and-a-half years. While in DeGraff, Irene met Clifford Grendahl at a roller-skating rink, and married him November 25, 1942.  They moved to the Grendahl family farm in Swift Falls for three-and-a-half years, before moving to Benson,  where she worked for J.C. Penney and Company, as the Merchandise Bookkeeper from 1946 through 1950.  She became a legal secretary for Frank A. Barnard Law Office in Benson in 1950, and was promoted to Office Manager for Barnard, Hilleren & Spates Law Firm.

David Allen Olson

David A. Olson, 60, of Benson, Minnesota died Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at the United Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 12, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.

David was born July 14, 1960 in Benson.  He was one of the most passionate Vikings fans, he was a great cook and was someone that loved to take care of others.  He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and spending time with his family and his friends, that’s what mattered most.  One of David’s favorite things was watching the Price is Right.  David’s big heart and big laugh will be missed.

Survived by his sisters; Linda Devens and LeAnn Waldvogel; nieces and nephews; and several other relatives and friends.

Arrangements are with the Zniewski Funeral Home of Benson.

Orville Swenson

Orville Swenson, 88, of Appleton, Minnesota passed away Friday, November 27, 2020, in the Appleton Area Health-Hospital.  

A private memorial service will be held.  Pastor Roger Fears will officiate.  Burial will be in Appleton City Cemetery at a later date.  

Arrangements are with Zniewski Funeral Home - Vaala Chapel in Appleton.
