Doris Jean Lansverk, 84, of Benson, Minnesota died Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at Gabriel House in Murdock.  Visitation was from 9:30-11 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 11 a.m., Monday, November 12, 2018, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson.  Interment was in Spring Creek Cemetery in Kerkhoven Township.  

Doris Jean Lansverk was born August 17, 1934 in Sacred Heart, Minnesota to Bennie and Alma (Stavne) Bredeson. She was baptized at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Sacred Heart by Rev. T.H. Rossing. In 1941, she moved with her family to Terrace, Minnesota. She was confirmed at the Chippewa Falls Lutheran Church in Terrace by Rev. Leonard Thompson. She graduated from Glenwood High School in 1952.

Randy Lee Olson, 57, of Benson, Minnesota, died Monday, November 5, 2018 at his home in rural Benson.  Visitation was held Thursday, November 8, from 5-7 p.m. at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson and continued from 10-11 a.m.  Friday at the church. Funeral services were held  Friday, November 9, at 11 a.m. at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Benson.

Randall Lee Olson was born in Benson, September 4, 1961, the son of Donald and Myrtle “Penny” (Mann) Olson. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson. He grew up in the Benson area and attended Benson Schools. He lived in Benson and worked for Lor-Al Manufacturing in Benson and at Polaris Dealership in Roseau, Minnesota. Most recently, he was employed with Case New Holland in Benson.

Viola Esther Schuerman, 104, of Benson, Minnesota, died Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Homestead North.  Visitation was from 10-11 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 11 a.m., Friday, November 9, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Benson.  Interment was in the Benson City Cemetery.

Viola Esther Schuerman, 104, died peacefully in her sleep November 3, 2018, at Homestead North in Benson. Born on June 15, 1914, in Milbank, SD, to Traugott and Ida Loeschke, she was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church near Milbank. Viola’s 1929 confirmation verse Psalm 13:5-6, “But I have trusted in Thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in Thy salvation. I will sing unto the Lord, because He hath dealt bountifully with me,” fit her well throughout her lifetime.

Walter F. Gades, 80, of Appleton, Minnesota passed away Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018 in the Appleton Area Health Services - Care Center.  

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 5  at Trinity Lutheran Church - Fairfield Township.  Pastor Donald Klatt was the officiant.  Burial was in the church cemetery.

Walter Fred Gades was born May 7, 1938 on the home farm in Fairfield Township, Swift County, Minnesota, the son of Carl and Laura (Suckow) Gades.  He was baptized at home  May 12, 1938 and was confirmed May 18, 1952 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Fairfield Township.  Walter was raised in rural Holloway, where he attended Country School during his grade school years and during his high school years he attended the West Central School of Agriculture in Morris.  He was a member of the Minnesota National Guard for 15 years.

Ervin “Swede” V. Ahrndt, 82, of Isanti, Minnesota (formerly of Herman) passed away in his home under Hospice Care, October 17, 2018 following a three-year battle with lung cancer.

Interment was by private ceremony October 22, 2018 at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery.  There was a Celebration of Life October 23 at the VFW Post #2735 in Isanti.  Military honors were provided by VFW Post #2735.

Swede was born February 26, 1936 in Benson, Minnesota to his parents, Ernie and Edna Ahrndt (deceased).  He joined the USAF in 1954 and served his country for 20 years before retiring at Fairchild AFB in Spokane, Washington.

Marvin G. Bengtson, 80, of Willmar, Minnesota (formerly of Sunburg) died Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at Bethesda Grand in Willmar.  

Funeral services were 1:30 p.m., Monday, October 29, 2018, at Mamrelund Lutheran Church in Pennock.  Burial was in Lebanon Cemetery in New London.  Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church, Monday.  

Marvin Glen Bengtson was born February 12, 1938, in Swift County, Minnesota, the son of Emmanuel and Anna (Halls) Bengtson. He grew up in the Kerkhoven/Sunburg area, attending country school and helped farmed with his family.

Marvin was united in marriage to Sybil Halleland, September 18, 1960.  They divorced after over 20 years of marriage.  They purchased a farm in the Sunburg area where Marvin farmed and raised livestock, retiring in 2008.

Timothy Wittwer officiated.  Visitation was one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Cemetery in Benson, Minnesota at a later date.

Brenda Jean Kurkosky-Ingebretson, 45, died on Sunday morning, October 14, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, and will continue on Saturday, October 20 from 12:00 to 1:00 pm, at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday October 20, at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson.

Interment will be in the St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in Benson. 

Brenda Jean Kurkosky-Ingrebretson was born July 14, 1973, in Appleton, Minnesota, the daughter of Gerald and Linda Wrobleski Kurkosky. July 29, 1973, she was baptized at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson. April 26, 1981, she received her first communion and May 11, 1990, she was confirmed by the Bishop Raymond Lucker at St. Francis Catholic Church. She graduated from Benson Senior High School in 1991.

Marjorie “Marge” Evenson, 90, Benson, Minnesota, died Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at home under Hospice care.  

Visitation was from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, October 14, 2018, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson.  Visitation continued from 10-11 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 11 a.m., Monday, October 15, 2018, at the church.  Interment was in Swenoda Lutheran Cemetery.  

Marjorie Ann Lou (Holstad) Evenson was born January 18, 1928, to Agnes (Norby) Holstad and Henry Holstad.  She was baptized and confirmed at Swenoda Lutheran Church.  Marge grew up on a farm in Swift County where she helped her dad with farm work.  She dreamed of becoming a dancer, and although she never became one, she did marry her life-long dancing partner, Floyd O. Evenson, at Our Redeemer’s parsonage December 7, 1944.  They were married for almost 60 years.

Sharon Hanson, 76, of Willmar, Minnesota (formerly of Appleton and Benson) died Monday, Sep. 24, 2018 in the St. Cloud Hospital.  Memorial services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Benson.  Pastor Art Wiese officiated.  Interment was in the Appleton City Cemetery.

Sharon Lenore Hanson was born July 19, 1942 in Appleton, the daughter of Wilfred and Leonora (Maynard) Stock.  She was baptized August 23, 1942 and was confirmed June 9, 1957, both at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton.  Sharon was raised in Appleton where she graduated from Appleton High School, Class of 1960.  She earned a two year accounting degree and also completed courses in Women’s Studies.  

November 27, 1960, she was united in marriage to Reuben Hanson at Zion Lutheran Church by Pastor Clifford Nelson.  This union was blessed with one daughter, Terri, and over 54 years together.
