Frances H. Holtan, 91, of DeGraff, Minnesota, died Saturday morning, May 26, 2018 in the Clara City Care Center. Visitation was held 10-11 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in DeGraff.

Frances Helen Holtan was born July 19, 1926, in DeGraff, the daughter of James and Margaret (Goggin) Dean. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church.  She grew up and attended grade school in DeGraff and graduated from Benson Senior High School.

Elroy T. Flaten, 87, of St Louis Park, Minnesota passed away peacefully May 27, 2018.
 
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.  Thurs, May 31, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church, 1601 S 4th St, Anoka, with visitation starting at 10 a.m.  Interment will be in the Benson City Cemetery in Benson.  
Elroy was retired after 41 years with John Deere in Minneapolis and Bloomington.  

He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer & Tillie Flaten; sister, Alvera (Kenneth) Haugen; brothers-in-law, Al Mortenson and Wally Schroeder.  

Elroy is survived by his children, Jeffrey Flaten and Jan (Jeff) Hislop; grandchildren, Nisse, Garrett, Mitch (Stephanie), Janna, Ross (Jenna), Andrea, and Grant; sisters, Clarice Schroeder and Harriet Mortenson; other family and friends.

Helen Olive (Souther) Corle, 97, of Willmar, died Wednesday, May 16 at Carris Health Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. Her funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 25 at the Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar with visitation one hour prior to her service. A memorial service was held for John “Jack” Burns, 71, of Wadena, Minnesota, Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Wadena, with Fr. Aaron Kuhn officiating.  The urn bearers were John Burns, Justin Burns, Andrew Kine and Madden Burns.   Military Honors were provided by the Elmer Goche Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3992 of Wadena.  Jack was laid to rest at Six Mile Grove Cemetery, Benson.

John “Jack” Ronald Burns was born January 14, 1947 in International Falls, Minnesota. He was raised by his mother, Elsie (Christopherson) Klein.  Jack attended school in International Falls and then moved to Benson where he preferred to go fishing rather than attend class.  

March 16, 1968, Jack was united in marriage with Sharon Ann Weigel at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Moorhead, Minnesota.  Their marriage was blessed with four children.

Dean Evenson, 81, of rural Benson, Minnesota died Friday evening at Gabriel House in Murdock.  Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, May 23 (today) at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson.  Visitation will continue from 10-11 a.m., followed by the memorial service at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 24  at the church.  Pastor Zane Anderson will officiate.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Lawrence “Larry” O’Malley of St. Cloud, formerly of Benson, Minnesota, died Monday, May 14, 2018, at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center.  Visitation was from 10-11 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., Friday, May 18, 2018, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Benson.  Interment was in the St. Bridget’s Catholic Church Cemetery.

Lawrence Joseph O’Malley, 79, was born in Benson, July 12, 1939, the son of Joseph and Delvina Matthews O’Malley. He grew up and attended school in Benson. Larry was a Vietnam War Veteran who served his country proudly and honorably in the United States Army. He achieved the rank of Sergeant. During the Vietnam War, Larry was assigned to Company-D, 169th, Engineer Battalion 20th Engineer Brigade, and was stationed near Long Binh, Vietnam.

Charlsie Rhea Reardon, 90, of Benson, Minnesota, died Monday, May 14, 2018, at Glacial Ridge Health System.  

Visitation was from 10-11 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 17, 2018, at St. Malachy Catholic Church in Clontarf.  Interment was in the Church Cemetery.  

Charlsie Rhea (Pettigrew) Reardon left her earthly family May 14, 2018.  Born in Dallas, Texas she met her beloved husband Francis when he was stationed with the Air Force.  Together, raising six children, they led an adventurous life spanning the West from Texas to Alaska.  They returned to Fran’s hometown of Benson in 2015.

Charlsie is survived by her husband of 66 years and her children: Peter of Colorado, Quinn of Washington, Kathleen and Christina of Alaska, Cynthia of Arizona, and Shelley of Oregon.  She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mary Ann “MA” Grage, 87, passed away May 10, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer at St. Gabriel's Community, Bismarck, ND. Service for a celebration of life was held Monday, May 21 at 10:30 a.m. at Charity Lutheran Church, 120 Aspen Ave, Bismarck, ND.

She was born January 21, 1931 in Montevideo, Minnesota to Magna (Ingstad) & Gustav Carlson.  She was the youngest of five siblings.

She grew up in Aberdeen, SD, and graduated from Northern State College with a bachelor's degree in physical education and was crowned Gypsy Queen in 1952. She was married to Allan Grage in 1953. Together they raised four children.

Dennis L. Wrobleski, 75, of Willmar, Minnesota, died Monday morning, May 14, at his residence in Willmar following an extended illness.

A Celebration of Life Service was held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 17, at East Norway Lake Lutheran Church in rural New London.  Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church.
 
Dennis LeRoy Wrobleski was born June 27, 1942, in Appleton, Minnesota, the son of Joseph and Lily (Gaulke) Wrobleski.  He grew up and received his education in the Benson community.
