Work starts on new Agralite headquarters

round Friday for its new $16 million headquarters facility. The ceremony marked the beginning of construction on a new facility that will better serve its members and employees for years to come.
The new 63,000-square-foot facility will be built the cooperative’s existing footprint just east of Benson.
Agralite serves rural electric needs  in Swift County, most of Stevens and Big Stone Counties, and the southern part of Pope County.
“Building on our existing location will allow us to continue to provide improved accessibility for our members and enhance our ability to respond quickly to outages and service calls across our service territory,” Jenny Stryhn, general manager of Agralite Electric Cooperative, said.
“This project is about our members and building for success for the next 60 plus years,” she said. “This new headquarters development represents a significant investment in the future of Agralite Electric Cooperative and our commitment to providing reliable, affordable electricity to our members.”
“This development will allow us to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and create a more collaborative work environment for our dedicated staff,” she said.
Key features of the new facility include:
- A spacious customer service area to better assist our members
- Improved operational efficiency and outage response
- An energy-efficient design
Expanded and secured warehouse space and pole yard for equipment and materials storage
- Modern training facilities for employee development and safety programs
Construction is expected to be completed in late 2025. Agralite’s current office will remain fully operational to ensure uninterrupted service to our members.
“We look forward to sharing updates on the construction progress and welcoming our members to the new facility upon its completion,” Stryhn said.  “This project underscores Agralite’s dedication to meeting the evolving needs of our community and maintaining our position as a leader in rural electric cooperatives.”
Built in 1966, Agralite has outgrown its old headquarters facility. Bigger equipment and cramped facilities are impacting the efficiency and safety of service, Stryhn said.
